About Happy + Hale

Located at 3103 Shannon Rd #102, Durham, NC 27707, Happy + Hale operates as a restaurant serving Durham in North Carolina. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as health food restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 8 am–8 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Happy + Hale at (984) 219-7238; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, happyandhale.com.

Very nice healthy food choices. Pick specific ingredients to make your own bowl or suggested bowls. Nice smoothies as well! Highly recommend!

I had such a wonderful experience at this place! The staff was incredibly helpful and patient as I asked about different meal options. They really took the time to make thoughtful suggestions, which I appreciated. The space itself is absolutely adorable with such a great vibe; it feels cozy and welcoming. On top of that, the prices are super affordable, especially considering how generous the portions are. Highly recommend checking this spot out. You won’t be disappointed!

Happy + Hale is one of my favorite spots for a fantastic lunch! The Buena Bowl is my go-toβ€”it’s packed with amazing flavors and a punch of goodness that never disappoints. Occasionally, I branch out and try other items on the menu, and I’m always impressed by the quality and taste. The service is consistently excellent, with a friendly and welcoming staff that makes every visit enjoyable. Whether you’re looking for something fresh, healthy, or just downright delicious, Happy + Hale delivers every time!

Good food. relatively quick service. Lots of parking. Decent price. Overall a very positive experience. I recommend the salads though the Acai Bowl can sometimes be frozen. However, I am giving one star because the online ordering is routinely disabled for this store.

UPDATE 29JUL2025: Decided to give it one more shot. There’s even less food in the bowl than last time. Barely any rice. Tofu pieces are somehow even smaller and no longer breaded. The curry tastes like mayonnaise. The quality of the food continues to decline, and the owner’s responses to reviews just sidestep the problem instead of taking ownership for these stupid, cost-cutting measures. This food is HORRIBLE. I will never give money to this establishment again. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” UPDATE 05MAR2025: Quality of the ingredients at Happy + Hale seems to be deteriorating. Today, the green curry in the coco curry bowl tastes like it came out of a can. The tofu pieces are tiny and incredibly underwhelming, compared to how they used to look (nicely breaded and fried/baked). Portions are getting smaller and smaller (See photo), as noted by several customers on who reviewed the Ninth Street location. See photo for reference - bowl was no even half full. Overall disappointing and definitely not worth $15. ___________________ ORIGINAL REVIEW: Ordered online for pickup at Happy + Hale. First time in. The food was excellent - coco curry bowl with tofu. Really enjoyed the flavors and fresh ingredients. Curr
